If you want to truly experience Aruba like a local, you must eat like a local. Aruba’s culinary culture is a delicious blend of Caribbean, Dutch, and Latin influences. From savory street snacks to hearty stews, here are some must-try Aruban dishes that capture the island’s vibrant flavors.

🥟 Pastechi

A local favorite, Pastechi is a deep-fried, flaky pastry shaped like a half-moon and stuffed with tasty fillings like cheese, chicken, beef, or tuna. Often enjoyed for breakfast or as a snack, it’s the perfect on-the-go bite.

🧆 Kroket

Inspired by the Dutch croquette, the Aruban Kroket features a crispy outer layer with a creamy, seasoned meat filling—commonly beef or chicken. Perfect as a quick snack from bakeries or roadside vendors.

🥚 Webo Yena

This dish translates to “stuffed eggs” in Papiamento. Webo Yena includes hard-boiled eggs filled with a savory blend of yolk, spices, and sometimes seafood like tuna or shrimp. A favorite at parties and festive gatherings.

🌭 Dedito

Meaning “little finger,” Dedito are finger-sized fritters typically filled with cheese or hot dog bits, then deep-fried to golden perfection. A favorite snack for both kids and adults.

🍲 Stoba

Stoba is a slow-cooked, flavorful stew made with beef or goat, mixed with vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and okra. A true comfort food, usually served with rice or funchi.

🧀 Keshi Yena

One of Aruba’s most iconic dishes, Keshi Yena involves a hollowed-out round of Edam or Gouda cheese filled with a savory mix of spiced meat, vegetables, and sometimes raisins. It’s then baked until melty and delicious.

🌽 Funchi

A classic side dish made from cornmeal, Funchi is Aruba’s version of polenta. It’s often paired with stoba or grilled meats and is a staple in many homes.

🚚 Truki Pan

No Aruban night out is complete without a stop at a Truki Pan, which are late-night food trucks serving burgers, BBQ, and local favorites like pastechi. They’re popular hangouts after a night of dancing or socializing.

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning foodie, Aruba’s local dishes are sure to leave a lasting impression. Be sure to try them all for a true taste of the island!
