The Copa Noord 2026 softball tournament, organized by Calabas Blue Jays and dedicated to community pillars Baluarte Lea Tromp, Maria Boekhoudt, Aldrin Boekhoudt, Jeta De Cuba, and Lenin Ashby, continued Sunday at the Calabas field with a thrilling contest.
In a remarkably fast-paced game, the first five innings were completed in just 37 minutes, with all seven innings wrapped up in only 1 hour and 10 minutes — likely a new Copa Noord record.
Kudawecha Indians Rally to Stun Royal Power Tat Fat
On Friday night at the Centro di Bario Noord field, Royal Power Tat Fat had defeated the Kudawecha Redskins 12-5 in the opening Copa Noord 2026 match. That loss fired up the Kudawecha Indians — cousins of the Redskins tribe — who came prepared to defend their neighborhood and avenge the loss.
Sunday afternoon delivered a tremendous Copa Noord 2026 showdown. Oslin Tromp took the mound for Kudawecha Indians, while Jomark Flanegin started for Royal Power Tat Fat. It was a pitching duel that raced along with the score locked at 0-0 until the top of the 5th inning, when Royal Power pushed across three runs to take a 3-0 lead.
M. Abreu came in to relieve Oslin in the 5th but gave up a run. Then in the bottom of the 7th — the final inning — with one out, Ricardo Pelayo crushed a home run to cut the deficit to 3-1. With just two outs remaining, Kudawecha Indians mounted a dramatic rally. Key hits from Echi Boekhoudt, combined with walks and a throwing error, set the stage for Joward Croes, who delivered the golden hit to right field, walking off Royal Power Tat Fat with a stunning 4-3 victory.
Final Stats:
- Kudawecha Indians: 4 runs, 13 hits, 0 errors
