ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Recently, VWO-3 students from Colegio, together with two teachers, visited Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort as part of their Geography studies.
The educational excursion was connected to the sustainability topic for CP Proefwerk 5. During the visit, students received a guided tour and presentation explaining how the resort developed into one of the leading sustainable hotels in the region and internationally.
Students learned how the resort uses renewable energy sources, reuses water for irrigation and landscaping, minimizes paper usage, recycles textiles, and gives food waste a second purpose through local animal farms.
The presentation also explained how the resort uses energy-saving paint and other environmentally friendly practices to reduce its ecological impact.
The afternoon concluded with lunch provided by the resort, and students also received a goodie bag containing a solar-powered phone charger.
The VWO-3 students described the visit as inspiring and educational and expressed gratitude to the management and staff of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort for the experience.
