Officers J.R. Boekhoudt and G.Y. Rosel of the Cuerpo Policial Aruba (KPA) were recently recognized with an Oorkonde for their outstanding work and displayed courage. The official ceremony took place in the presence of High Commissioner Arnhem, the Chief of the Santa Cruz district, and the Commissioner of Uniformed Police. The leadership gathered to celebrate the officers’ rapid response and dedication during a critical incident, emphasizing the importance of their role within the community.
The recognition follows a life-saving intervention that occurred on the morning of April 29 in the Hooiberg area. Central police command had dispatched a patrol with maximum urgency following reports that a 75-year-old tourist had become critically ill. Displaying tactical coordination, Officers Boekhoudt and Rosel worked efficiently with other departments to access and stabilize the patient. They successfully managed the complex operation to bring the individual down and transport them to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Addressing the attendees, High Commissioner Arnhem congratulated the officers for going the extra mile in their duties. He highlighted the demanding nature of law enforcement, noting that officers frequently face difficult and extreme circumstances. “Police work often demands courage in difficult and sometimes extreme situations,” Arnhem stated. The Cuerpo Policial Aruba commended both Boekhoudt and Rosel for their bravery and the significant value they add to the force through their professional service.
