Aruba UTV route talks are scheduled as the government responds to a dispute over where off-road tour operators may travel and how sensitive natural areas should be protected.
Tourism Minister René Herde invited UTV, ATV and tour operators to an open dialogue at the JFK Education Center on September 4. According to DIARIO, the government says it does not intend to shut down the sector and is working through DOW and DIP on an alternate route.
Permits and protected zones
The talks follow legal action by Aruba Birdlife Conservation concerning UTV and ATV activity. Operators have asked for clearly marked permitted routes, visible T-permits, protected-zone boundaries and consistent sanctions for violations.
Member of Parliament Hendrik Tevreden separately said the impasse could affect the livelihoods of roughly 800 workers. That figure is his estimate and has not been independently verified. The Aruba UTV route talks are expected to address both environmental protection and the practical future of licensed tours.
