ORANJESTAD (AAN): On the corner of Adrian Lacle Boulevard, an important project is underway as part of the Beautification and Reforestation Project in Oranjestad. This project focuses on expanding and beautifying an existing park as part of a broader reforestation and revitalization plan for the city center.
Prime Minister Mike Eman stated that the expansion not only improves the physical space of the public park but also serves as a memorial for those who lost their lives during World War II. The renovated park will combine history, nature, and community into one shared space.
A special aspect of the project is that it is being prepared to coincide with the commemoration of March 18, the day Aruba celebrates the 40th anniversary of Status Aparte, which also coincides with the presence of the King in Aruba. The goal is for the park to be completed by this date.
More than 100 children will participate in the project, planting nearly two hundred trees on the expanded area. This initiative is part of a national reforestation program, where children will actively participate, including alongside the King, in tree planting as a symbol of future sustainability.
The project, executed by the Department of Public Works (DOW), is being developed in-house, allowing for more direct and efficient resource management and planning. Satisfaction with the DOW team was expressed, as they have shown solid professionalism and commitment over the years, now demonstrating a high level of expertise.
The goal of the renovated park is not only to beautify the area but also to contribute to the broader vision of revitalizing downtown Oranjestad, creating a green, meaningful, and sustainable space for the community.
With March 18 approaching, this project has become a symbol of collaboration between the government, youth, and the community and reflects the continuous commitment to care for and beautify Aruba for future generations.
