AVP Parliamentarian Stephany Sevinger has addressed the ongoing housing challenges in Aruba, marking a significant milestone for the Burubundu Residence project. On Thursday, the development officially entered its public review phase and is currently available for inspection.
Sevinger highlighted that the housing crisis requires multiple solutions, as the FCCA cannot handle the entire demand alone. She advocated for a rent subsidy system to support families and reduce waiting lists. “We strive for the introduction of a rent subsidy system… which can provide additional support to families and simultaneously lower the pressure on the waiting list for social housing,” Sevinger stated.
Burubundu is described as more than just housing; it is a new community for Aruba. Sevinger noted that successful neighborhoods must offer opportunities and quality of life, not just housing units.
