Parties discuss closer island ties
Aruba’s AVP and Bonaire’s Union Patriotiko Boneriano are seeking deeper Aruba-Bonaire cooperation following exchanges around AVP’s 2026 congress. NoticiaCla reported that Prime Minister and former AVP leader Mike Eman visited UPB’s headquarters after UPB representatives attended the Aruba gathering.
Eman met interim UPB leader Jolinda Craane, former leader James Kroon and Burney El Hage. They discussed the future of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, island relations and opportunities for practical cooperation.
Shared political roots shape the talks
The parties pointed to Christian-democratic roots and the common good. Eman said economic growth should support stronger neighborhoods, health services and infrastructure rather than be measured only through tourism.
New AVP leadership expected to continue outreach
With Wendrick Cicilia now leading AVP, the party said it wants to deepen ties with UPB and turn a longstanding relationship into practical cooperation. No formal agreement or specific joint program was announced.
