Fast opening victory in Mexico
Aruban fighter Arjen la Moria won his opening bout in 70 seconds and became a champion at a competition in Mexico, 24ora reported. La Moria said he collected an international belt, a national belt and a Muay Thai championship.
Teammate Sebastian Koopmans also competed. He said it was his first appearance in Mexico and that he was satisfied after several months of preparation.
Training included altitude preparation
Coach Stacy Hassell credited consistent training and preparation for the athletes’ performances. He said the team prepared for Mexico’s altitude and drew on his prior experience traveling there.
More competitions are planned
La Moria said his next commitments are October 23 in Suriname and November 7 in Aruba. Hassell said more events in Aruba and Curaçao are in the pipeline.
