An ATIA wage dialogue statement issued on November 4 calls for transparent supporting research and genuine participation in discussions about Aruba’s minimum wage. The trade and industry association disputes suggestions that participants had already received comprehensive studies and debate, according to English 24ora.
Association describes consultation concerns
ATIA said an invitation to social dialogue dated from March 15 and that participants were expected to propose agenda items and protocols. It said business organisations’ topics were not addressed after the second meeting and that proposed protocols were not accepted. These are ATIA’s account of the discussions, not independently established findings about every participant.
Purchasing power remains a stated goal
The association said it supports stronger purchasing power and workers’ wellbeing but wants decisions informed by complete information and analysis. Its statement says it remains open to constructive talks. It does not announce an agreed wage rate, an implementation date or a completed negotiation.
