MIAMI – Jonah, a dog originally from Aruba and now living in Florida after being adopted, received VIP treatment at loanDepot Park before the Miami Marlins’ game against the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday.
Known in Florida as “The Cunucu Dog,” Jonah joined his owner, Peter Silveira, on the field to throw the ceremonial first pitch while wearing a custom Miami Marlins jersey.
Jonah and his owner were also invited to watch the game from a VIP suite and received gifts from the Marlins, including dog toys and other treats.
The dog’s growing popularity began after a video filmed during the Marlins’ “Bark at the Park” event on June 22 showed Jonah sadly watching another dog eat a hot dog. The clip quickly went viral, prompting the Marlins to locate Jonah and invite him back for a special day at the ballpark, where he was the only dog honored during the event.
