Oranjestad – In a historic step for the island, Aruba welcomed its first Ombudsman, Jurima Bryson, on October 1st, 2024. As the newly appointed Ombudsman, Bryson is dedicated to serving both locals and visitors, addressing concerns and promoting transparency within government and semi-government agencies.

What Is the Role of the Ombudsman?
The Ombudsman acts as an intermediary between the people and government institutions. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor to Aruba, the Ombudsman’s office is there to help resolve complaints regarding government services.

If you’re not currently in Aruba, don’t worry! The Ombudsman can still handle your complaint remotely. All you need to do is ensure there’s a way to contact you, and they will investigate and follow up on your issue, no matter where you are.

What’s Next for the Ombudsman’s Office?
As the first of its kind in Aruba, the office is still in the process of setting up. While it’s not fully operational yet, Ombudsman Bryson assures that it will open sometime later this year. In the meantime, the office is active on social media to provide updates and educate the public about its role.

You can stay informed by following the Ombudsman on Instagram (@ombudsmanaruba) and Facebook (Ombudsman Aruba), where they share helpful information and details on the types of complaints that can be submitted.

Aruba’s Ombudsman is here to ensure that your voice is heard and your concerns addressed. Stay tuned for more updates as the office prepares to open its doors.
