Aruba climate funding possibilities were discussed during a meeting in the Netherlands with Prime Minister Mike Eman, according to 24ora’s October 22 report. The talks concerned nature conservation, marine protection and the energy transition.
Three areas identified for possible support
The report identifies conservation and national parks, more sustainable tourism and commercial activity, and scientific research as areas where international or European funding could help. Examples included support for the Aruba Conservation Foundation and cleaner vehicles or boats used by businesses.
Discussion remains exploratory
Amaranta Ringeling, chief financial officer of De Hoge Dennen, attended the meeting and praised Aruba’s environmental efforts. Her assessment is an attributed view, not a new independent ranking of Caribbean countries.
The report says investment discussions remain exploratory. It also describes the need to involve fishers, water-sports businesses and the wider community in marine-conservation decisions. No funding award, approved project budget or final marine-park decision was announced.
