The first Aruba under-15 girls invitational is bringing young footballers from five teams together for international competition.
AVB organized a replacement opportunity
The Aruba Football Association organized the event after the Concacaf Under-15 Girls Invitational was cancelled. Rather than lose the development opportunity, AVB created a tournament under the FIFA Women’s Football Development Program, according to 24ora.
Aruba’s selection will compete with teams from Anguilla, Suriname and the British Virgin Islands, along with Formas Íntimas of Colombia.
Tournament expands international experience
AVB communications officer Cindy Erasmus said the competition will help teams remain active and give players experience against opponents from different football cultures.
Visiting teams were expected to arrive Saturday while organizers completed final preparations. Matches will be available through Aruba TV and YouTube, giving families and supporters on and off the island access to the event.
