The Aruba Taekwondo Association has launched its sporting calendar with the first national competition of the year. The event, held recently, brought together six member schools for a day focused on technique and combat, marking the beginning of the association’s development plan for athletes.
Norberto Tromp, Vice-President of the Aruba Taekwondo Association, explained that the competition is part of a broader strategy to prepare athletes for international events. The association is conducting preparation seminars covering various modalities, including technique, refereeing, and combat readiness. These initiatives aim to elevate the skill level of local practitioners.
The competition also served as a scouting opportunity for international championships. By identifying athletes with high preparation levels early, the association can work with member schools to monitor and pre-select candidates for overseas competitions. Tromp affirmed that these efforts are essential for the continued development of Taekwondo in Aruba and on the international stage.
