Aruba has taken an important step toward strengthening its vocational education system with the official signing of two strategic agreements aimed at improving professional training and preparing students for the modern workforce.
The agreements were signed on Tuesday in Oranjestad and represent a major commitment by the Ministry of Education, together with local and international partners, to enhance the quality, innovation, and labor-market relevance of vocational education on the island.
Strengthening Local Collaboration in Vocational Education
The first agreement focuses on strengthening collaboration within Aruba’s vocational education system. The partnership was signed between Dienst Publieke Scholen (DPS), representing EPI and OABA, and Stichting Educacion Profesional Basico (SEPB).
The collaboration aims to modernize and reinforce vocational education (MBO) in Aruba over the next two years.
Key objectives of the agreement include:
-
Introducing innovation in teaching methods
-
Improving professional development for teachers
-
Creating continuous learning pathways from school to employment or adult education
-
Increasing flexibility in study programs
-
Strengthening connections between education and the labor market
Officials believe that this collaboration will help create a more adaptable and modern education system that better prepares both young people and adults for future career opportunities.
Continuing the International Partnership With ROC Mondriaan
The second agreement formalizes the continuation of Aruba’s strategic partnership with ROC Mondriaan, a vocational education institution in the Netherlands.
The renewed collaboration will continue through 2030 and is based on a shared vision of providing high-quality education for students in both Aruba and the Netherlands.
The partnership will focus on several key areas, including:
-
Innovation and quality improvement in education
-
Flexible learning opportunities and the concept of lifelong learning
-
Exchange programs for teachers and students
-
Addressing modern topics such as artificial intelligence, team development, and equal opportunities in education
Through this international collaboration, students and educators in Aruba will benefit from knowledge exchange, new teaching approaches, and exposure to global educational trends.
Investing in Aruba’s Future Workforce
With the signing of these two agreements, Aruba is taking concrete steps toward building a more modern and dynamic vocational education system.
The Ministry of Education emphasized that strong cooperation between educational institutions, international partners, and the labor market is essential to developing the island’s future workforce.
These initiatives will create new opportunities for students, support teachers in professional growth, and contribute to Aruba’s long-term economic development.
The Ministry expressed gratitude to all partners involved and reaffirmed its commitment to a shared vision: an Aruba where talent is developed, innovation thrives, and education serves as the foundation for sustainable progress.
