ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba Prosecutors Urge Travelers to Pay Outstanding Fines before departing the island, warning that unpaid fines could result in delays at border control and even cause passengers to miss their flights.
According to the Public Prosecution Service (Ministerio Publico), travelers with outstanding fines may be stopped during airport immigration and security checks. Officials can identify unpaid penalties through the border control system, and travelers may be required to settle their outstanding balance before being allowed to continue their journey.
Authorities cautioned that failing to pay fines in advance could lead to unexpected expenses, travel disruptions, missed flights, and unnecessary stress during vacation or business travel.
The Public Prosecution Service encourages residents and visitors to verify whether they have any unpaid fines before traveling. Anyone who is unsure of their status can request information by emailing info@omaruba.aw and including their full name.
Outstanding fines can be paid directly at the cashier’s office of the Public Prosecution Service without an appointment. Payment services are available Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Fridays, the office is open only during the morning hours. Payments may be made in cash or by bank transfer to Aruba Bank account 4000905.
The Public Prosecution Service concluded by wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable vacation while reminding travelers that settling outstanding fines before departure can help ensure a smooth travel experience.
