Aruba Prepares Second Medical Relief Team For Venezuela as experienced healthcare professionals organize the next phase of the island’s humanitarian response following the powerful earthquake that affected Venezuela’s La Guaira region.

Veteran nurse Ruben Croes, who has decades of experience in disaster medicine and international humanitarian missions, is helping coordinate the medical response that Aruba plans to deploy once the needs on the ground have been fully assessed.

According to Croes, the first humanitarian team currently in Venezuela is responsible for evaluating conditions in the affected areas. The information collected will determine the size, composition, and medical specialties required for the next deployment.

The Aruba Prepares Second Medical Relief Team For Venezuela initiative will allow healthcare professionals to respond more effectively by matching medical resources to the specific needs identified during the initial assessment.

Extensive International Disaster Experience

Croes has participated in numerous international humanitarian missions throughout his career, including multiple emergency deployments to Haiti, Colombia, Sint Maarten, and other countries affected by natural disasters.

He explained that this experience has enabled Aruba to develop a highly trained emergency response capability despite being a small island nation.

According to Croes, Aruba has previously worked alongside internationally recognized emergency response organizations, including Belgium’s First Aid and Support Team (B-FAST) and the Urban Search and Rescue Netherlands (USAR-NL), strengthening the expertise of Aruba’s medical responders.

Next Medical Team Under Preparation

The Aruba Prepares Second Medical Relief Team For Venezuela operation may include doctors, nurses, and operating room personnel who will provide specialized medical care based on recommendations from the advance team currently deployed in Venezuela.

Croes emphasized that Aruba’s greatest strength lies not only in its technical medical expertise but also in the humanitarian commitment of its healthcare professionals.

He noted that the willingness to help, combined with years of disaster response experience, enables Aruba to make a meaningful contribution during regional emergencies.

Coordinated Humanitarian Response

The Aruba Prepares Second Medical Relief Team For Venezuela mission is being coordinated through close cooperation between the Government of Aruba, the Crisis Management Office (CMO), and the Aruba Red Cross.

Government officials stated that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Mike Eman, Aruba successfully mobilized its medical expertise, logistical resources, and humanitarian personnel to provide timely assistance to the Venezuelan people following the recent earthquake.

The second deployment will be activated once the initial assessment has been completed and priority medical needs have been identified by the advance response team.
