ORANJESTAD, Aruba — The Aruba Peace Poster Contest is inviting young artists across the island to use their creativity to express a vision of peace, respect and understanding.
Aruba One Happy Island Lions Club is encouraging schools, teachers, parents and children to participate in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest for 2026–2027.
This year’s theme is “Harmony in Humanity,” or “Harmonia den Humanidad” in Papiamento.
The international competition encourages young people to imagine a world in which people from different cultures, backgrounds and communities live together with kindness, compassion and mutual respect.
Art Promotes Peace and Understanding
The “Harmony in Humanity” theme emphasizes the importance of respecting differences while recognizing the values people share.
Organizers believe peace can grow within communities when individuals treat one another with understanding, celebrate diversity and respond to differences with kindness.
Participants must create an original poster showing their personal interpretation of the annual theme.
The artwork must be produced entirely by the participating child and completed by hand.
Through the Aruba Peace Poster Contest, children can communicate a positive message that may inspire people locally and internationally.
Children Ages 11 to 13 May Participate
The competition is open to children who will be 11, 12 or 13 years old on November 15, 2026.
Participation in the international contest must be sponsored through a local Lions club.
Aruba One Happy Island Lions Club is encouraging schools to introduce the programme to eligible students and support them throughout the creative process.
Teachers can use the contest as an opportunity to discuss peace, cooperation, cultural diversity and responsible citizenship in the classroom.
Parents are also encouraged to motivate their children to participate and express their ideas through art.
Winning Poster Could Represent Aruba
Posters will be evaluated based on originality, artistic quality and how effectively they communicate the “Harmony in Humanity” theme.
A locally selected winning poster may advance to the next stages of the Lions International competition.
This could give a young artist the opportunity to represent Aruba and share a message of peace with audiences around the world.
The contest has been organized internationally for more than three decades and has allowed millions of young people to express their visions of peace through visual art.

Aruba One Happy Island Lions Club said the programme promotes more than artistic talent.
Participation can help children develop empathy, confidence, creativity and greater respect for people from different backgrounds.
