ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruban checkers teams returned with positive results from the ABC Tournament 2026 held in Curaçao from May 28 to May 30. The annual competition brought together teams from Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire to compete in matches held across two days.
The senior Aruba delegation featured Henry Knepa and Octavio Croes in the first team, followed by Hector Winterdal and Ricardo Wever in the second team. In the team standings, Bonaire took first place with 9 match points and 20 individual tie-break points, while Curaçao followed with 9 match points and 18 individual points. Aruba’s combined teams finished with 6 points.
Individually, Aruba saw significant success as Henry Knepa secured the top spot with 7 points, achieved through three wins and a draw. Chio Feng of Bonaire placed second with 6 points, and Mijail Eisden of Curaçao took third place, also with 6 points.
In the youth category, Aruba’s team, consisting of Kendrick Lue and Henry Lacle, finished in first place with 5 match points and 10 board points. Bonaire secured second place in this category.
