Aruba Justice Minister Arthur Dowers met the new commander of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee’s Caribbean Brigade to discuss border control, cross-border crime and regional security cooperation.
New commander leads units across six islands
Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Taribuka has served in the post since September 2026 and leads KMar units across the six Caribbean islands of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
KMar works with local authorities, the Coast Guard and police services on organized crime, document and identity fraud, immigration-chain support and other border-related investigations.
Meeting stresses continued coordination
The discussion focused on maintaining strong cooperation among security partners while accounting for Aruba’s specific responsibilities and needs.
The meeting followed recent four-country justice consultations involving Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands, where participants agreed to strengthen coordination against shared forms of crime. Dowers expressed confidence that Aruba’s cooperation with KMar would continue to deepen.
