Aruba in Stilte is inviting young people aged 12 to 17 to help document experiences of the island’s 2020 lockdown, according to 24ora’s October 29 report. Fundacion Creciendo is developing the literary and digital project with Letterfonds.
Six-month programme seeks young researchers
Programme coordinator Valerie Willer said the initiative seeks 20 to 25 participants from different Aruba districts who can commit for six months. Participants will collect accounts, conduct interviews and explore writing, podcasts and journalism as they help create a digital book.
Preserving memories through a current project
The research will include experiences from different parts of the community, including hotel and airport workers. At the programme’s end, the foundation plans to present the book and organize exhibitions in Oranjestad and San Nicolas. This is a current invitation to document the pandemic period, not a report of a new lockdown.
