The Aruba girls football initiative received a positive response during AVB’s recent “Step Into Her Game – Girls’ Open Day” at Compleho Deportivo Frans Figaroa.
The event was organized as part of the FIFA Women’s Football Campaign and aimed to encourage more girls to discover football in a welcoming and positive environment.
Girls aged 11 and older were invited to participate in practical training sessions on the field, meet representatives from local clubs and learn more about opportunities available within women’s football in Aruba.
The activity was designed not only to introduce participants to the sport but also to inspire the next generation of female football players on the island.
Educational Panel Included
In addition to the on-field activities, participants attended an interactive panel featuring professionals and people involved in football.
The discussion covered several topics relevant to young female athletes, including wellbeing, family support, safeguarding, menstrual health and the development of women’s football in Aruba.
AVB said these subjects form part of a broader effort to create a safe and supportive environment where girls can continue developing within the sport.
Through the FIFA Women’s Football Campaign, AVB is working to create more opportunities for young players and strengthen the long-term development of women’s football on the island.
The organization also indicated that a second edition of “Step Into Her Game” is expected next month.
