ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AAN) — The Aruba CPI December 2025 recorded an increase of 0.4%, according to the latest monthly report released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS Aruba).

CBS reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for December 2025 stood at 109.47, up from 109.03 in November 2025. The annual change in the Aruba CPI December 2025, measured over the last 12 months, reached 0.4%, slightly higher than the 0.3% recorded during the same period last year.

The average annual inflation rate over the past 24 months remained at 0.1%, representing a decline of 1.6 percentage points compared to the 1.7% average recorded in earlier reference periods.

During December 2025, eight of the twelve sectors registered price increases. The sectors with the greatest impact on the Aruba CPI December 2025 were Recreation and Culture (1.6%), Miscellaneous Goods and Services (1.0%), and Restaurants and Hotels (1.8%). These increases contributed 0.13, 0.12, and 0.09 percentage points respectively to the overall CPI.

Price increases were partially offset by declines in Communication (-0.4%) and Transport (-0.2%), which together reduced the CPI by 0.07 percentage points. The remaining sectors contributed a minor downward effect.

CBS noted that the increase in Recreation and Culture was mainly driven by a 11.7% rise in vacation-related costs, while Miscellaneous Goods and Services saw higher prices for personal care items. The sharp rise in Restaurants and Hotels was largely due to a 52.2% increase in accommodation services. Meanwhile, falling prices for telecommunications equipment and vehicle purchases contributed to declines in the Communication and Transport sectors.

The CPI consumption basket consists of 408 goods and services. Compared to November 2025, 47.5% of these items recorded price increases, 36.8% saw price decreases, and 15.7% remained unchanged. Goods prices declined slightly by 0.1%, while service prices increased by 1.1%, contributing positively to the Aruba CPI December 2025.

Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, increased by 1.0% in December 2025. Energy prices declined by 3.8%, while food prices increased modestly by 0.3%, according to CBS Aruba.
