ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba’s Minister of Justice, Arthur Dowers, says the government is continuing to invest in new equipment and ongoing training to strengthen the operational capacity of Brandweer Aruba.
According to the minister, the Fire Department faces several challenges, including a shortage of personnel and the need for additional operational resources. Recruitment efforts are underway to increase staffing while ensuring new firefighters receive the training needed to perform their duties safely and professionally.
The government has also begun acquiring new equipment to improve the department’s emergency response capabilities. Dowers emphasized that investing in modern technology must be matched with proper training so firefighters can operate and maintain the equipment efficiently.
As part of these efforts, another group of firefighters recently completed the Ladder Truck Operations Course and received certification after successfully finishing the training program.
The minister said Brandweer Aruba continues to modernize its fleet and adopt new technologies while providing continuous education to ensure personnel can effectively use specialized equipment and maximize available resources.
