ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AAN) — An event highlighting Aruba Colombia diplomatic relations 200 years officially begins today, January 24, at the National Library of Aruba (BNA) in San Nicolas, according to Clifford Rosa, Director of Fundacion Rancho.

During a press conference, Rosa announced that the gathering marks the foundation’s first official event of 2026 and will take place in the Esmeralda Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event is designed as an open dialogue focusing on history, heritage, and diplomacy.

“For us, this is an encounter — a moment of conversation where we explore different themes,” Rosa said. “One of the main topics will be Aruba Colombia diplomatic relations 200 years, viewed within the broader context of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. There is still research to be completed before determining how Aruba will formally participate in these commemorations.”

Rosa explained that the discussion will also include themes related to Status Aparte, as well as heritage conservation through the Aruba National Trust (ANT). Fundacion Rancho is a member of international heritage organizations that focus on the protection of cultural and natural heritage, creating space for dialogue on preserving the historical identity of Rancho, Oranjestad, and Aruba as a whole.

“This allows us to expand our vision and raise awareness about cultural and natural heritage across the island,” Rosa stated, emphasizing the educational value of the initiative.

The event takes place today, Friday, January 24, at the BNA San Nicolas, Esmeralda Hall, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Community members, stakeholders, and anyone interested in the topic are invited to attend.
