New Aruba Airport ground handling agreements will continue the airport’s partnerships with Aviation Ground Services, operating as Swissport, and General Air Services, known as GenAir.
Existing providers retained under updated framework
Aruba Airport Authority, operator of Queen Beatrix International Airport, chose to renew the two established concessions after reviewing its ground handling arrangements. The authority said the process produced an updated and largely standardized framework instead of simply extending the previous conditions.
The agreements followed consultation and negotiations with both providers. They set expectations covering operational performance, safety, security, service quality, trained personnel and compliance with airport and regulatory requirements.
Equipment investment includes lower emissions
Both ground handling providers committed to renewing and investing in ground service equipment, including a gradual shift toward lower-emission and electric equipment. Aruba Airport Authority said it will continue considering the supporting infrastructure needed for that transition as part of broader development and sustainability plans.
Seven-year renewal begins in 2027
Swissport Dutch Caribbean CEO Walid El-Hage described his company’s concession as a seven-year renewal. GenAir Managing Director Alejandro Muyale said the Aruban company, which has more than 50 years of experience, will continue investing in its people, equipment and operations.
The new concession agreements take effect on January 1, 2027. They will govern ground handling services provided by both operators at Aruba Airport.
