On June 2, retirees receiving pensions from APC (Curaçao) via an Aruban bank were required to submit their “Attestatie de Vita” (Proof of Life). Submitting it a day early or late is not accepted; otherwise, APC delays payment until the next month and requires a new attestatie.
Many retirees face challenges completing this process due to travel, transportation, health, or vision issues, making compliance difficult. Unlike the joint system of Aruba’s AOV and Curaçao’s SVB, APFA and APC do not currently collaborate, complicating matters for those receiving pensions from both sources.
If APFA and APC could implement a shared process like AOV-SVB, retirees working hard to receive their government pensions would benefit, and it would set a precedent for future retirees moving between Aruba and Curaçao.
