ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Dr. Earney Francis Lasten, an educator and researcher with over 30 years of international experience, has successfully completed the Post Graduate Program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine/Deep Learning: Business Applications at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin. He completed all modules with distinction.
The intensive ten-month program covered Python programming, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, generative AI, and model deployment. It used a “learn-by-doing” approach with real business datasets. Dr. Lasten ranked among the top 20 globally with an average grade of 4.24/4.33, earning A+ distinction in every module.
Dr. Lasten plans to apply his newly acquired skills to education in Aruba, including early identification of at-risk students, dashboards for school management, administrative automation, and integration of AI and data literacy into the first-year curriculum—preparing students for the local and global job market.
He independently financed the program, describing it as a personal investment in Aruba’s students and community. “AI literacy is critical for our youth and economy,” Dr. Lasten said.
