Just days before the end of the year, another break-in has been reported in Oranjestad’s city center, once again raising concerns about safety and security for local businesses.
The latest incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. at Tilted Premium Aruba, where suspects gained entry by smashing a side window of the store. During the break-in, approximately 300 Aruban florins in cash were taken from the register, along with several pieces of gold jewelry.
In addition to the stolen items, the business owner is now faced with the cost of repairing the damaged window and taking immediate measures to prevent future incidents.
This break-in adds to a growing list of similar cases in the city center, an area that remains vital for commerce and tourism. Merchants and shoppers alike continue to express concern, noting that despite the frequency of such incidents, there appears to be no effective or visible plan in place to address the problem.
Local business owners and residents are once again calling on authorities to implement stronger security measures to protect commercial activity and ensure public safety in Oranjestad’s historic downtown area.
