MIAMI – A new report shows that airfares for several international destinations from the U.S. have dropped by up to 35% compared to last year. Latin America and the Caribbean lead the drop in prices, with an average of 22% lower on popular routes. This drop is a result of the post-pandemic travel boom, where airlines have increased capacity. With more available seats and less demand, prices have dropped, especially for the Caribbean.
As part of this trend, Aruba is among the destinations with significantly lower airfares, with roundtrip tickets regularly available for under $200 this season — an unusually low price for spring travel. Experts suggest this is a great time to book, as there are more options with lower prices. They recommend booking 3 to 6 weeks in advance and choosing mid-week flights for the best rates.
However, some destinations like Bangkok and Athens are seeing price increases, with the cost of oil and operational issues in the aviation sector potentially affecting future trends.
