AFBA wage increase concerns centre on how Aruba can improve purchasing power without undermining employment or business sustainability, English 24ora reports.
Association outlines employer-cost estimates
Using its stated comparison of Afl. 2,007.05 and Afl. 2,683 a month, AFBA calculated an employee increase of Afl. 675.95. Including approximately 25% in employer-related costs, it estimated about Afl. 845 monthly or Afl. 10,139 annually per worker. These are the association’s estimates, not enacted new wage figures.
Relief and consultation requested
AFBA called for an economic-impact assessment, realistic financing, gradual implementation and monitoring of employment and prices. It also sought tax or social-contribution relief and meaningful consultation through Social Dialogue. The association says better living standards and sustainable businesses can be pursued together.
