Aruba Extends 90-Day Flight Ban with Venezuela, Impacting Tourism and Trade

The aviation authorities of Aruba have extended the ban on passenger, cargo, and general aviation flights to and from Venezuela for another 90 days, effective until November 27. The decision was formalized through NOTAM A0479/25 issued by Queen Beatrix International Airport.

According to aviation lawyer Guillermo De Armas, the extension aligns with current regulations and aims to maintain control over air operations between the two territories. This measure directly impacts commercial airlines, cargo operators, and passengers, forcing adjustments in travel plans and logistics.

This is not the first time Aruba has imposed such restrictions this year. In July, a similar ban was extended for six weeks, ending on August 30. With the new 90-day extension, air connectivity between Aruba and Venezuela remains disrupted, complicating both tourism and trade flows in the region.

Aviation experts warn that while these measures are temporary, they carry significant consequences. Businesses dependent on cargo logistics, as well as travelers, must now seek alternative routes. Authorities, meanwhile, are tasked with reinforcing airspace surveillance and compliance.

The ban also highlights broader challenges in maintaining safe aviation links between Aruba and Venezuela. Until the restrictions are lifted, both governments and the private sector will need to find strategies to minimize losses and safeguard regional connectivity.
