Aruba Birdlife Conservation Urges Public: Do Not Touch or Feed Wildlife
2
VIEWS

Aruba Birdlife Conservation has issued a strong warning to both residents and visitors: avoid touching or feeding wild animals. While such interactions may appear innocent or even compassionate, they can cause lasting harm to wildlife and disrupt delicate ecosystems.

Feeding animals human food can lead to malnutrition, illness, and dependency. When animals lose their natural foraging instincts, they become reliant on people, weakening their chances of survival in the wild. Moreover, animals that grow accustomed to human contact may display altered behavior, such as aggression or loss of fear, which can endanger both people and animals.

The organization also highlights the health risks involved. Physical interaction with wildlife increases the chances of disease transmission, some of which can have serious or even deadly outcomes for humans and animals alike.

To protect Aruba’s rich biodiversity, Aruba Birdlife Conservation encourages everyone to admire wildlife from a respectful distance. Refraining from physical contact and feeding helps ensure balanced ecosystems, supports healthy animal populations, and preserves the natural beauty of Aruba for future generations.
