An Aruba security workshop held on October 22–23 brought together representatives of the Justice Department and hotel and tourism-related organisations for training in threat, risk and vulnerability assessment, according to a report published by 24ora English on November 5.
Two-day training hosted by foundation
The Aruba Hospitality & Security Foundation hosted the sessions, which were delivered by international security consultancy The Chameleon Group. The account describes a public-private initiative focused on recognising threats, assessing risk and identifying vulnerabilities.
Assessing weaknesses before incidents
According to the report, the training encouraged participants to consider how a potential adversary might view a location, rather than relying only on the perspective of those responsible for its security. The areas examined included physical settings, procedures, security arrangements and human factors.
The outlet says the sessions also provided an opportunity for government and tourism representatives to develop a shared approach to preparedness. The workshop took place in October; the November 5 report does not announce a new incident, a current emergency or a further training date.
