AWSS expects its three large incinerators to be operational in early November under the current schedule, Utilities Aruba director Joseph Everon told Diario. The planned step follows work on two new units and improvements to the existing Line Zero incinerator.
Testing and staff preparation continue
According to Everon, the large units are undergoing safety testing and maintenance before entering full service. Two smaller mobile incinerators are already processing incoming medical waste. The larger units are intended to help address medical waste accumulated over several years once they are operational.
Air monitoring and site improvements described
Everon said preparations include staff training, safety measures, building and workplace repairs, lighting and site clearance. He also reported installation of equipment to monitor air quality against permit parameters. AWSS handles medical waste, wastewater-treatment sludge, green waste and expired products including meat. The account describes a target date and preparation work; it does not independently certify emissions compliance or confirm all three large units are already running.
