An Aruba refinery visit by Justice Minister Arthur Dowers and Dutch State Secretary Eric van der Burg examined the site’s condition and possible future uses, according to 24ora’s October 15 report.
RDA director leads the site tour
Refineria di Aruba director Robert Henriquez guided the delegation and briefed it on the installations and existing infrastructure. The visit concerned HART, the government project focused on closure, dismantling and sustainable redevelopment of the former Lago refinery site in San Nicolas, the report said.
Governance and tank use under discussion
Dowers said a working group had been preparing a governance structure for several months to guide decisions about the site and its facilities.
The report also describes possible economic use of the Zeewijk tanks for crude-oil storage. A tender process was underway, with more clarity on its outcome expected by the end of October, according to the account.
