The Aruba Olympic Committee marked its 40th anniversary on October 17, reflecting on four decades in the international Olympic movement, according to a statement published by 24ora.
Recognition dates to October 1986
The committee, known locally as COA, said the International Olympic Committee welcomed it into the Olympic family on October 17, 1986. Saturday’s anniversary marks 40 years since that recognition.
In its message, COA looked back on the athletes who have represented Aruba internationally and on its work promoting Olympic values on the island.
Committee thanks those behind its development
COA paid tribute to those who worked to establish Aruba’s national Olympic committee, as well as the people whose efforts have supported its development since then.
The committee said its priorities remain promoting Olympic values, creating opportunities for young people and contributing to a stronger community through sport. The anniversary message did not announce a separate public event or a new competition.
