Aruba has maintained its Tier 2 classification in the United States’ 2026 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report, with Washington noting progress in the fight against human trafficking but continued shortcomings in victim protection.
According to the report’s findings on Aruba, the government has stepped up efforts to combat trafficking in persons, yet the protection of victims remains inadequate.
The Tier 2 ranking applies to countries whose governments do not fully meet the minimum standards for eliminating trafficking but are making significant efforts to do so.
Victim protection is considered a key pillar of anti-trafficking policy, alongside the prosecution of traffickers and prevention of the crime. Shortcomings in protection can leave victims without adequate shelter, legal assistance or support services.
The annual report, published by the US State Department, assesses governments’ anti-trafficking efforts around the world and is closely followed by policymakers and advocacy groups.
