Aruba represented at annual congress
Minister Plenipotentiary Mildred Schwengle represented Aruba at the annual congress of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities, known as VNG, in Oost Gelre and Winterswijk. Aruba participates alongside other Kingdom countries and Caribbean Netherlands islands.
National and social leaders address delegates
Guests included Queen Maxima and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten. VNG chair Sharon Dijksma opened the congress. Queen Maxima spoke as patron of the Oranje Fonds about its support for social initiatives throughout the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Caribbean representatives build connections
Other speakers included Jonathan Holslag, ABN AMRO economist Sandra Phlippen and former Paralympic champion Esther Vergeer. After the program, Caribbean representatives met one another, and Dijksma emphasized the importance of Caribbean participation in VNG.
