The Aruba Police Force has completed an intensive four-day course designed to strengthen command and coordination during disasters, large-scale incidents and other exceptional operations.
The Aruba police incident training focused on the Dutch SGBO model, short for Staf Grootschalig en Bijzonder Optreden. The system is used to organize command responsibilities when an incident requires resources and coordination beyond routine police operations.
Dutch instructors led the course
According to the police announcement reported by AWE24, the training was delivered by four instructors from the Netherlands Police Academy: André Melsen, Harald Braat, Jeroen Rosendaal and Michiel Bitter.
The course concentrated on preparing police command personnel to manage situations that may involve multiple units, rapidly changing information and specialized deployments. Such preparation is intended to establish a clear structure for decisions, communication and operational control.
Preparedness for complex emergencies
The Aruba Police Force said the training forms part of continued investment in operational readiness. Large incidents can require police to coordinate internally while also working with emergency medical services, firefighters, government departments and other partners.
No specific incident prompted the announcement. The course was presented as preparedness work aimed at improving the force’s ability to protect the community when an emergency grows beyond a normal response.
