MEP Questions Possible Afl. 26.1 Million AZV Cost

The MEP parliamentary faction is seeking clarification about a possible AZV regularization cost of approximately Afl. 26.1 million per year.

Estimate concerns 5,800 potential new members

According to questions submitted to Health Minister Mervin Wyatt-Ras, an indicative calculation in the Central Bank of Aruba’s Economic Outlook considered what could happen if about 5,800 regularized workers became newly insured through AZV. MEP cited a potential annual healthcare cost of about Afl. 26.1 million.

Faction asks how the system would absorb costs

MEP asked whether AZV has the financial capacity to carry a structural increase, who would cover any shortfall, and how added expenses compare with additional premiums and other contributions. It also asked what measures could prevent pressure on care quality or access. The figure is an estimate cited in parliamentary questions, not a confirmed final cost.
