Aruba Press Day observances highlighted the role of independent journalism while announcing new training and media projects for the island’s reporters.
At a reception organized by RAPP and VNO, Dutch representative Vincent Storimans said a democratic rule-of-law system depends on a free, independent, critical and professional press.
AI seminar and podcast announced
RAPP president Melissa Stamper announced a third Caribbean Journalism Seminar under the theme “AI & Innovations.” Planned sessions include AI ethics, vibe coding and work with Claude. The training is expected to be offered free to journalists.
RAPP also plans to launch a podcast, “Prensa den Close Up,” during September. The announcements extend Aruba Press Day beyond the annual ceremony into practical training and public discussion about journalism.
