ORANJESTAD — Aruba consumer confidence improved slightly during the second quarter of 2026, although consumers remained generally pessimistic about economic conditions, according to the Central Bank of Aruba.
The Consumer Confidence Index increased by 0.9 index points to 93.6 in the second quarter of 2026.
The Consumer Habits Index also improved, rising by 1.2 points to 94.5.
Both the Expectations Index and the Current Situation Index increased during the quarter. The Expectations Index rose by 0.9 points to 93.6, while the Current Situation Index increased by 0.7 points to 93.2.
The Price Expectations Index reached 90.4.
Higher Prices Remain Major Concern
Despite the slight improvement in confidence, concerns about inflation remain significant.
According to the survey, 93% of consumers expect prices to be higher during the next six months.
The share of respondents who said they can no longer buy as much with their income compared with six months earlier fell by 3 percentage points, but remained very high at 90%.
Meanwhile, 46% of respondents said they are saving less than six months ago, unchanged from the previous quarter.
The results suggest that while Aruba consumer confidence improved modestly, pressure from higher prices and reduced purchasing power continues to affect household sentiment.
