ORANJESTAD (AAN) – A Woman Injured After Bottle Assault Near RIU Antillas Resort early Sunday morning after an altercation involving her former partner left her with facial injuries.
Police and ambulance personnel responded to reports of an injured woman inside a vehicle near RIU Antillas Resort. When officers arrived, paramedics were already providing medical assistance. Although the woman declined transport by ambulance, she said someone she knew was coming to assist her.
According to the preliminary investigation, the woman and a friend had spent time at a nearby nightclub before later going to a nearby beach. After leaving the beach, they noticed two motorcycles following them. When they stopped, the woman recognized one of the riders as her former partner, with whom she shares a child and is reportedly involved in an ongoing custody dispute.
Police said the confrontation escalated when the man allegedly grabbed a bottle and struck the woman in the face, causing bleeding. He then fled the scene on a motorcycle before officers arrived.
Police documented the incident and advised the woman to obtain a medical report at the hospital and to file a formal complaint with the Detective Bureau if she wished to pursue legal action. The investigation remains ongoing.
