ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Minister of Sports, Gerlien Croes, officially launched the rebranded STREA Deportivo Aruba, formerly known as the Premio Excelencia den Deporte. The annual event recognizes outstanding local athletes and sports leaders who contribute to Aruba’s sports development.
During the launch, Minister Croes highlighted the continuity of the event across 16 years and emphasized the national pride in valuing athletes’ efforts. The new digital platform, streadeportivoaruba.com, allows federations to nominate athletes transparently, track nominations, and follow deliberations.
Partner Fundación Lotto pa Deporte provides financial support, distributing funds to sports federations via Stichting Sport Subsidie Aruba (SSA). The acronym STREA symbolizes Superando Talento, Resaltando Esfuerzo y Ambición, recognizing athletes’ hard work and ambition.
This initiative aims to strengthen Aruba’s sports culture locally and internationally while ensuring a transparent and inclusive recognition process.
