ORANJESTAD (AAN): Jareth Vermeulen of Sustainability Alliance Aruba invited the public to celebrate the one-year anniversary of “Aula di Lama” on June 9 at 6 PM.
Originally opened as a coral laboratory, “Aula di Lama” has expanded into an educational hub for environmental learning in Aruba. The initiative now provides opportunities for local educators, students, and researchers to study marine life, local species such as shoco crabs and lizards, and other biodiversity topics.
Over the past year, the program has hosted events for World Oceans Day, launched scholarships for environmental research, and integrated the UNESCO-backed “Man and the Biosphere” (MAB) project. “Aula di Lama” aims to foster awareness, conservation, and hands-on environmental education across Aruba.
Vermeulen emphasized the importance of engaging students and the community in protecting local ecosystems and expanding knowledge about Aruba’s unique natural heritage.
