On November 5, 2026, Aruba will officially be listed as a “Tsunami Ready Island.” Rino Hermans, from Aruba’s Crisis Management Office (CMO), confirmed that after nearly nine years of preparation, the island has met all requirements set by UNESCO. Most of the necessary measures are complete, with only minor details pending, which will be finalized in July. International experts will visit Aruba in August to inspect and confirm all installations. UNESCO has recognized Aruba as the only country to train citizens with special needs, including vision and hearing limitations, as part of this program.
