Court Postpones Former Coast Guard Case: The criminal case against former Coast Guard member E.J.F. (33) has been postponed by the court. The delay follows a request from defense attorney Mr. Carlo, who argued that the Public Prosecutor’s Office provided case documents too late for adequate preparation. As a result, the judge agreed to adjourn the proceedings to allow time for the defense to review the material.
The Public Prosecutor has levied several accusations against E.J.F. These include the alleged theft of a boat engine on March 13, 2023, utilizing his position as a Coast Guard member. He is also accused of concealing flares and ammunition between March 4 and March 11, 2023. Furthermore, the prosecution alleges that E.J.F. killed or injured a number of sea turtles, a protected species, in August 2023. The charges claim he provided information on turtle locations in Aruba’s territorial waters and facilitated payments for them.
During the proceedings, attorney Mr. Carlo argued that his client did not agree with the initiation of the penal case. He emphasized the necessity of studying the case files with his client before making formal requests to the court. The case was previously delayed in December 2025 after the defendant refused to accept a punishment offer.
