The Movimiento Electoral di Pueblo (MEP) faction reported this week that the official dossier concerning Minister Gerlien Croes’s use of a private jet remains empty at the Landsrecherche (LAR). This finding comes after the faction launched a formal inquiry to obtain documents that the Minister claimed were submitted to the investigative body.
During a recent parliamentary session, Minister Croes refused to answer direct questions regarding the flight, asserting instead that she would provide receipts at the LAR to prove the expenses were paid from her personal funds. In response, the MEP faction initiated a procedure under the Landsverordening Openbaarheid van Bestuur (LOB) to legally compel the release of these documents. The LOB is designed to ensure transparency and accountability within the government.
Upon inspecting the file at LAR, representatives discovered that no proof of payment or receipts had been filed by the Minister. Consequently, the legal process will continue, with the commission holding the power to issue a binding order for Minister Croes to produce the financial records and account for the expenditure.
